Location
Fekruna
The cove of Fekruna (Turtle bay) is situated at the waterfront edge of Xemxija, in the north-east of Malta, and forms part of the popular seaside locality of St Paul’s Bay which is located about 16 kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage City, Valletta.
According to legend this was the site where the galley carrying St Paul to Rome was shipwrecked in AD 60.
Whilst the summer population of the area rises above the 50,000 mark, winter sees this drop to some 15,000 – and this is particularly noticeable in spring and early autumn where one can experience the pleasures of secluded coves and tranquil early morning seaside walks.
Fekruna is bordered by a lovely green area which stems from directly beneath the apartment’s sunny front terrace all the way to the picturesque bays of Mistra and Selmun.
In 2007 this whole coastline was designated as a Special Area of Conservation of International Importance by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority.
Winter walks along the cliffs leading to Mistra are especially beautiful.
The apartment is also located within a 10 minute drive to all Malta’s main sandy beaches and the ferry boat to the captivating island of Gozo where, locals insist, the wily Odysseus spent seven years of his mythical, decade long bender on his way home from work.
A bus stop is located directly outside the block and regular route buses connect the area to the main shopping districts of St Paul’s Bay, Mosta, Sliema and Malta’s unforgettable capital, Valletta.
